Mindfullness

Something I don’t have all of the time when it comes to eating.

I think we are all guilty of it now and again.

A handful of chips here.

A few pieces of candy there.

A couple of  dips into the cookier jar

And the list goes on….

Food journals allow us to be mindful before we put food in our mouths.

They make us ask ourselves, “Am I really hungry?”

 Or…..
“Am I bored?”
“Am I sad?”
“Am I lonely?”
“Am I enjoying the party a little too much?”

There are so many different reasons, so many different triggers to mindless eating.

For me it’s  usually handfuls of blue corn chips while reading cooking magazines at 9pm, and  weekends filled with copious amounts of pizza indulging…

When the pattern starts it often goes on for days.

I created this very simple Food Journal for myself (after a particulary bad week of mindless eating!) I thought I would share it with all of you too! I left it in Word for those of you that want to type in the information. I personally like to have it printed out and in the kitchen. (I print both sides to save on paper. Green of me, right?!)

And don’t we all want to be great examples of health for our children?

Check out this study that shows how keeping a food journal can help you lose double the weight!

I was just thinking of starting a food journal and this is right on time. Thanks so much for sharing.

  3. I think many of us weight watching folks have to journal here and there when snacking gets out of control. I know I do! Thanks for sharing your journal, nothing works better for me than writing it down. :)

  4. This totally works. It’s so eye opening to realize not just how much you’re really eating, but why. And replacing the bad habits with good ones.

  5. I am totally guilty of eating when I’m not hungry! I have journeled here and there, then get busy and stop – but it is DEFINATELY eye opening as to what I actually eat!

Believe me I am the queen of that or my other problem is waiting until I am starving and then eating everything in site ;)
