I typically post my original recipes on here, but I just had to share this Popcorn Trick that my mom told me about from Dr. Oz. It’s so easy and without all the movie theater butter, popcorn is such a healthy treat. Basically popcorn + a paper bag + 90 seconds in the microwave and woila! Homemade Microwave Popcorn without all the fat or fake stuff.
Popcorn is a whole grain, with fiber, and it’s low on calories. Check out this fun fact–Popcorn eaters consume more than twice as many whole grains and more than 22 percent more fiber than people who don’t eat popcorn.(Per the May 2008 issue of the “Journal of the American Dietetic Association” )
Here’s What You Do:
Add the plain popcorn to the bag and fold over the top. Microwave for 90 seconds. Spray with non-stick spray-use organic. Season liberally with your favorite seasoning and sea salt. Enjoy this guilt free treat!
*I alternate between Penzey’s Brady Street Cheese Sprinkle and their Country French Vinaigrette. It adds a tad more fat, but extra virgin olive oil and grated parmesan would be great too.
Your kids won’t miss the butter for a second. This makes a great evening snack for the whole family.
